Wetland [lighthouse remix] by Hurrel and Lyken (08:10, 2012)

Lighthouse studio at the The Lighthouse Field Station, Cromarty, Scotland
Lighthouse studio at the The Lighthouse Field Station, Cromarty, Scotland

This projected video piece was produced specifically for the exterior of Cromarty Lighthouse. It is a collaborative piece with artist & musician Mark Lyken and was produced whilst we were undertaking individual Sublime artist residencies at The Lighthouse Field Station, a marine-mammal research station (part of Aberdeen University) in the North East of Scotland.

For the purposes of documentation the the video shown here intercuts original footage with documentation from the film projected on the lighthouse.

Wetland (lighthouse remix] was first shown on the Opening night of the Sublime exhibition.  Thereafter it was shown for a couple of hours each night, during the ten-day residency exhibition. It features a circular projection and an outdoor sound system. Mark created the soundtrack and I responded by created the edited video.

The Sublime residency was funded and supported by IOTA, Inverness with the assistance of Creative Scotland and the University of Aberdeen.
