Vauxhall Cross: City Dreaming

Vauxhall Cross: City Dreaming, Vauxhall Cross, London, 2000

A new LED display system was installed at the entrance of a pedestrian tunnel and coloured lighting filters  installed in each of the tunnel lights. This tunnel creates a pedestrian link between the Underground and the overhead trains. It is very busy each morning and evening. The LED system is installed in a location where people would normally expect to see useful transport information. However this LED was only interested in asking people about their dreams. An ongoing series of questions scrolled across the screen;

…What did you dream last night?…Are your dreams affecting your day?…Do you dream in colour?…Do you remember your dreams?…Have your dreams come true?…Do your dreams ever scare you?…

This was part of the wider temporary public art project commissioned by London Printworks Trust and Vauxhall Cross Transport Solutions.
