Arts Foundation Fellowship Award 2008
I was awarded an Arts Foundation Fellowship in January 2008. (Category of Art and Lighting: £10,000). The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide creative time to research and develop new directions and new work.
I was nominated for this award by Louise Trodden (Head of Art in the Open). I was then selected for the short-list and asked to provide a proposal of what I would do with the time and money.
My research is based on two distinct areas (1) the relationship between light and the sublime in modern society and in contemporary art and (2) the potential offered by technological developments in solar cells, LED lighting and interactive ‘feedback systems’.
I am therefore engaged in current theoretical and technological aspects of light, and through this I aim to develop new ’self sufficient’ artworks that can be sited in specific location. In particularly I am interested in looking at the relationship between the work and particular landscapes, including remote locations.
