ConceptualArtistForHire.com

‘ConceptualArtistForHire.com’ allows anyone to hire the artist for various activities.

These have to be negotiated between ‘the artist’ and ‘the temporary employer’.

1. Actions

This could include an action such as standing still and pointing at something for a specific period of time, or walking in circles repeatedly, for a specific period of time (these kinds of actions help to draw attention to things that may normally go unnoticed). There are many more options for actions that the artist can do but they should preferably be repetitive and seemingly pointless. These actions or activities can be specially designed for each specific context.

2. Stand-in

The artist is also available for ’stand in’ work. This may be useful if a ‘temporary employer’ has double-booked or is unable to take up an offer. ‘Stand in’ work can range from undertaking leisure activities to participating in actual work. However stand-in work should mainly involve being present somewhere, such as a meeting, conference or event. Leisure activities could include reading a book, sunbathing (weather permitting) taking a walk in a park (walking with a dog is extra). In return the artist will produce a ‘creative summary’ of each activity. This could take the form of a drawing, a written piece (various styles), photographic documentation, photo-text documentation, etc.

3. Concepts

A special high-level hire is available. This would involve the artist solving real problems through taking an oblique, creative approach. This could be for any type of project that requires additional creative conceptual input and, depending on the project, this may involve the artist becoming ‘temporary artist-in-residence’ in order to observe, discuss and learn about the issue, company or project.

The format of each project, and the creative outcomes, will be agreed between the artist and the temporary employer in advance.

FIRST PROJECT TO DATE!

Under Option 3, ConceptualArtistForHire.com (CAFH.com) was asked to come up with a phrase to help promote the launch of a new website by the company Marine Blast (www.marineblast.co.uk). The client was looking for something that would reflect the irreverent, no-nonsense reporting style that the website often takes in its ’sailing news’ section. CAFH.com came up with; ‘Marine Blast - Not Your Usual Webshite’. This hit the mark and was used in promotional material such as flyers, stickers and T-shirts.
